The Gold Book is in fact shiny and black with only a little gold gilt

Peter Stanbury redesigned the cover and interior of The Gold Book, an established technical directory, for United Business Media Information. The client was anxious not to lose readership with a radical redesign. So, keeping its black-gloss cover with gold foiled lettering, but finessing the typography, and adding a small gold disc above the title, a primarily unchanged directory was elegantly transformed, making a good impression on sales.
